The mangoes of Talala Gir, Gujarat are famous for being the one and only Gir Kesar mangoes. These mangoes are cultivated in the foothills of Girnar in Gujarat, western India, and are known for their:
• Bright orange colored pulp
• Distinct sweetness
• Intoxicating aroma
They are considered one of the most expensive varieties of mangoes in India and have been awarded a Geographical Indication (GI) tag, which means only mangoes grown in a specific geographical region can be called Gir Kesar mangoes.
The biggest market for Gir Kesar mangoes is in Talala Gir, which is about 45 kilometers from Gir National Park. The mango season typically runs from April to May.
